Knots are imperfections that happen right through the growth of the tree. Grain differences are caused by the way the tree is cut. Every board will have a different grain direction. Natural color variations are created right through the tree growth. The color of the wood is made up our minds by where the piece was once located within the tree. Lighter pieces are the ones closer to the bark whilst the darker pieces are the ones closer to the center of the tree.
